"Hello! I bought this kit a few months ago and I found it great. It was very easy to assemble and all the parts of the house were finely finished. The only thing I've had problems with is the roof. I've read several reviews and everybody agrees about it: it's a handicap not to be able to watch inside your house or even change and move things if you glue the roof. I have thought about not glueing it and moving it from time to time, when necessary. Keep on doing such beautiful things! Could I suggest more small projects like this? Thanks a lot!

"I have been building DHs for nearly 30 years but this Beach Hut has given me SO much pleasure, it has surpassed many of my other attempts. I love the size of it, the excellence of the manufacture, the ease of the construction- and the inspiration it has given me to build and decorate this one and hopefully another one (or two!) Sometimes with a big house it can be quite overwhelming to think how each room is going to be filled-and the cost-but the compact size of the Beach Hut has meant I have started and finished it in a few months, and it's small enough to be able to be displayed in the living room on a table. I can see that this size is going to be addictive! Thank you DHE for producing this house. By the way, could we have a catagory in the expertise box for "experienced" rather than "expert"- us Dolls House people are a little more modest than that!"

"I have read all other reviews and agree that this is a great item, easy to put together and can be used for anything you wish. The price is exceptional. and would recommend to everyone I also have to agree about the roof. I didn't want to glue it as suggested in the instructions and decided on hinges, but because the sides are mitred this make the gap along the ridge quite wide, so i am still trying to decided what to do. Maybe ridge tiles. Sandra"

"I had this dry-built in 10 minutes. Great value for money and a nice size. The roof was the only thing I was slightly unhappy with. I am experimenting with mine for an alternative finish/appearance. More retreats please."

"This is my 3rd doll house kit - but will be the first to be finished! It was so easy to put together, and the permatations for how it could be used are limited only by your imagination!
The only thing that I would change is the roof - would love to see it dowelled, like the other panels, but this is the only thing I would change about this kit.
I have really enjoyed working on this, and would love to have several, all done out in different styles and for different uses."

"This kit is so easy to approach, I had the dry-build done within 30mins of it arriving!
Seven panels which already have dowels and holes so they slot together easily. The porch section is made up of the two side railing sections, a horizontal crossbar and a vertical post.
The doors and large window are built-in, but you can slide the acetate out. The sliding window is built-in and unglazed. The roof is not hinged, so if you want an opening roof you'll have to supply your own hinges. Or you could leave it as a lift-off piece. The instructions advise that you glue it in permanently but I'm too nosy to give my miniatures that much privacy!
I am really pleased with the design and the quality of the kit and can sense it has a lot of potential. It's not very imposing either, perhaps a bit longer/taller than a shoe box, so I think it's a really convenient size that will fit on top of most end-tables.
I really hope DHE bring out more of the little 'retreat' properties in future as they're an interesting addition to a pre-existing collection but also an easy introduction to the hobby for anyone just starting out."
